Get in touch with the beautiful Battambang Province and District
Battambang
is the “heart of the Cambodian rice bowl”. It is located around Tonle
Sap Lake, blessed with many harvests of nature. Although the people of
Battambang have had to endure many difficulties over the past, the
province luckily has many cultural heritages to offer for tourists.
Banan
temple, Ek Phnom temple, Baset temple and Snoeung temple were all built
more than a thousand years ago. In many ways, we think of Battambang as
very rich in natural resources with resorts as Sek Sark, Pich Chanda,
Cham long Kuiy, Koh Sne, Chro Lorng Bop Ta, Lor Ang Spean, the Sampov
Mountains, Rom Say Wat Ek phoneSak, Kdong, Takream, Andoeuk, Trungman,
the floating village of Truug Tia, the Bantay Sat bird park and many
ancient caves in the province.
Moreover, the Battambang province
consists of many ancient houses, pagodas and reorganized resorts as the
Tahok Mountains which largely benefit recreation of national as well as
international tourists. In fact, in 2006, a considerable increase in
tourists who came and visited these places was able to help our
authorities to reduce the poverty of the people.
Banan temple
The
important role tourism plays in the field of social development cannot
be overlooked. As a matter of fact, we need to improve quantity as well
as quality of hotels, guest houses, restaurants, night clubs, tour
agencies and means of transportation to answer back in time to the call
of an increasing number of tourists setting foot to the Battambang
province.
So, from Battambang center, just follow the river road
south along the Sangker River. Not long and you’ll arrive at Banan
temple, surrounded by beautiful natural scenery. Located only 2 km
south from Battambang’s Psar Nat or central market along the Sangker
River, tourists can find the cultural, agricultural and fruit villages
of Watkor commune. The people of these three villages welcome you to
come and enjoy insights into the true Cambodian way of life…
The three villages are: Watkor Cultural Village and Agricultural Villages Kompong Seyma and Ksach Puy.
